2024 June Edition: AFRAA SkyConnect Leadership Dialogues with Barry Kashambo and Cpt. Gilbert Kibe

Mr. Barry Kashambo, Former Regional Director, ICAO ESAF and Cpt. Gilbert Kibe, Former Director General, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority took centre stage at the June edition of AFRAA SkyConnect Leadership Dialogues session scheduled on Wednesday, 05 June 2024.

They shared their views and thoughts on African aviation safety performance: progress made; the huddles and how to sustain the gains. With vast experience in their respective fields, the audience was enlightened on the importance of adhering to and improving safety across the continent and also shed light on what should be done and by who for sustainable aviation safety

2024 July Edition: AFRAA SkyConnect Dialogues With AFREXIMBANK And AFDB On Aviation Financing

Dr. Gainmore Zanamwe, Ag. Director, Trade Facilitation and IATF, AFREXIMBANK and Mr. Romain Ekoto, Chief Aviation Officer, African Dervelopment Bank took centre stage at the July edition of AFRAA SkyConnect Leadership Dialogues session scheduled on Wednesday, 03 July at 14h00 EAT (UTC: 11h00).

Dr. Zanamwe and Mr. Ekoto shared their views and thoughts on financing the aviation in Africa to support regional connectivity and trade under the AU flagship Agenda 2063 projects of SAATM and AfCFTA. Which areas the bank can intervene; what the pre-qualification requirements for financing are and what risks mitigation measures are a pre-requisite.

Highlights of the dialogue:

  1. Supporting the AU flagship projects of SAATM and AfCFTA
  2. Areas the DFIs provide funding support
  3. Funding MROs, training centers and cargo warehousing in Africa
